This Week's MIP Digest
The skinny on DESE's new CSE Framework, the Girl Scouts go Groomer, new Transgender documentaries, and more.
It’s time for another edition of the MIP Digest!
The MIP Digest is a regular feature where we share the great information that has been posted to the MIP Facebook group during the previous week (in this case, it’s been the previous two weeks… we’ve been super busy with that wild new MA Framework and we didn’t do a digest last week). The MIP Digest won’t capture all of the interesting comments and conversations that happen in the Facebook group, but it will include the highlights and provide a quick overview of the content, in case you missed it.
First, here are the posts from our Admins:
Attention: Dracut Parents
Do you have a child in Dracut public schools? If so, please comment below or send us an email at massinformedparents@gmail.com. We are working on securing sex ed curriculum information on your district and have a question for you. Thank you!
Parents of Girls, Beware: Girl Scouts offers LGBTQ+ Patch for Attending Pride Month Celebrations and Participating in Activities
If you have a daughter in Girl Scouts, you may already have picked up on the fact that the Girl Scouts tend toward being politically progressive. But this year they have hoisted their woke flag even higher, and we want to make sure you know about this so that you can protect your kids from indoctrination.
This year the Girl Scouts is offering a LGBTQ+ patch, for girls as young as 5-6 years old.
Check out THIS ARTICLE from the Christian Post.
From the article:
"Girl Scouts can earn an LGBT-themed patch by participating in several activities, such as attending a pride parade or creating a rainbow-themed flag, with the organization encouraging members of all levels to celebrate the LGBT movement this month."
Many parents think encouraging children to attend a pride parade is disturbing, and some Girl Scout moms and dads might opt their daughter for a different activity instead. But even if they do, they may not escape the other dangerous ideas that will be shared with their daughters.
Because not only do the Girl Scouts want your daughter to earn a pride patch, they want to teach your daughter what LGBTQ+ means. Here are the definitions, taken from the Girl Scouts' LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration Document (linked in the article):
"Learning LGBTQ+ vocabulary can help be respectful of our LGBTQ+ friends and families in our community. The following definitions come from the Human Rights Campaign: Defining LGBTQ+ Words for Elementary School Students. Also in this article are additional recommendations to keep in mind when defining terms for children.
Lesbian: People who love people [or are attracted to people] of the same gender. Two women.
Gay: People who love people [or are attracted to people] of the same gender. Two men.
Bisexual: People who love people [or are attracted to people] of more than one gender.
Transgender or Trans: When your gender identity (how you feel) is different than what doctors/ midwives assigned to you when you were born (girl/boy or sex assigned at birth)."
These definitions are inherently confusing for young children because it is impossible to discuss same-sex attraction coherently without employing sexual language, and employing sexual language with children too young to understand sexual attraction is dangerous for their mental and emotional health.
Little girls are emotional. They feel things deeply, and they love their female friends. They do not understand what sexual attraction is yet, because they are children! But they understand "love," or they think they do. So when a Troop Leader tells a little girl that being a lesbian means "loving" other girls, what do you think she might conclude about herself?
And what about a girl who doesn't feel like she fits in with the other girls? Would she conclude that perhaps the doctors got it wrong when they told her parents, "it's a girl?"
Speaking to children about topics they do not yet have the maturity to understand, like sexual attraction, can open the door for a lifetime of confusion.
The Girl Scouts need to stay away from discussions of human sexuality and keep their progressive ideology away from innocent children. And until they do that, parents need to keep their precious girls far away from this organization.
The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners publicly resorts to name-calling and gaslighting about MIP's mission, because they don't want you to pay attention to the truth.
A few weeks ago at a Board of Selectmen meeting in Burlington, a MBLC staff member thought it was just fine to tell lies about Massachusetts Informed Parents. She accused MIP, along with Moms for Liberty, of “spearheading coordinated actions that have at their backbone intimidation, intolerance, and a white nationalist agenda that they hope results in censorship of ideas, stories, and people.”
So I guess wanting to protect kids from sexualized ideology and gender confusion is white nationalist now? Really, MBLC?
Of course, this accusation is every bit as silly as it is outrageous. In fact, we had a good chuckle about how ridiculously far this official felt she had to go to distract from the fact that the MBLC is just fine with putting graphic sex books in the hands of kids in the name of "inclusion." However, since their accusation defames the leaders and members of this group, and it is grossly inappropriate for a representative from a taxpayer-funded government organization to malign and misrepresent private citizens exercising their constitutional rights, we decided to respond.
From the article:
“Organizations like the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners try to gaslight people about the mission of Massachusetts Informed Parents because they don’t want the public to know the truth, that is, that we represent a racially and ethnically diverse group of parents who share a concern for protecting minors from sexualization and harm,” Richardson said in an email message to New Boston Post.
Richardson took aim at some of the content found in public schools and public libraries, “such as teaching kids how to use sex toys for anal pleasure or telling them that a woman can have a penis. The fact that these concerns cross party lines is very inconvenient for organizations like the MBLC, which could be why they seem committed to misrepresenting our positions.”
One of the books Massachusetts Informed Parents has identified as inappropriate for children is Let’s Talk About It, a book the group describes as containing graphic content of sex acts. The group has found the book in public schools and libraries throughout Massachusetts.
“We challenge the MBLC, and similar organizations, to tell the whole story. The next time they make a public case against our mission, they should also read out loud from this book,” Richardson told New Boston Post."

Thank you, New Boston Post, for giving an equal platform to concerns from all sides and for accurately representing the concerns of parents.
Healey-Driscoll Administration Proposes Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Curriculum Framework
(THE BIGGEST NEWS in MIP in the last week was *all* about the new draft Framework. The following is a combination of the information in multiple posts.)

Michael King of Massachusetts Family Institute was at the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the June 27th meeting to provide comment about the new draft Health Framework just proposed by Governor Healy’s office.
Watch the meeting recording HERE.
…
As promised, linked below is an evaluation of the newly released draft of the Health Frameworks that includes learning objectives for sex education in MA schools.
The Framework is NOT curriculum; it is a guideline for school districts to use when choosing a curriculum to teach health, including sex education. The Framework does however recommend topics that should be covered in sex education lessons.
Also, currently, school districts have control over what curriculum they choose to meet these standards, but most default to following the DESE guidelines. And if the Healthy Youth Act (Sex Ed Mandate) passes the legislature, DESE guidelines will be mandated for school districts that choose to teach sex ed.
Here are some quick facts about the lesson guidelines in the Framework:
The learning objectives comprise a Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) model of sex education. Graphic and grooming.
Lessons are recommended to begin in PRESCHOOL. Little ones will discuss genitalia.
Transgender ideology is a HEAVY theme throughout all grades, beginning in Pre-K-2.
Discussions examining families' beliefs about human sexuality and gender are encouraged. In other words, if you have taught your children traditional views on these issues, they may be instructed to challenge your values.
High school students will discuss the "benefits" of sexual behavior.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted on June 27th to send the draft Framework out for public comment. Members of the public will have 60 days to provide comments on the proposed learning standards, after which DESE will review the feedback, and vote on whether to adopt the Framework. MIP will keep you posted on how to submit your public comments as soon as we have more information.
MA schools must stop sexualizing and confusing young students about their gender. If there was ever a time to engage to protect kids, it's now!
Listen to Chloe Cole talk about her detransition from transgender identification
Heartbreaking. This is the kind of harm that MA children will be set up for if DESE adopts the just released draft Health Framework that heavily pushes transgender ideology. Listen to Chloe’s interview HERE.
Everyone's been asking, "How do we comment on DESE's new Health Framework?"
So, here's all of the info you need, all in one place!
Until August 28th, 2023, DESE will be accepting public comment on their new Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Framework. This Framework's standards push gender ideology and sexually-explicit standards on students as young as PreK-2. It's too much, too soon, too confusing, and too harmful. We are asking parents and citizens to raise their voices to reject this draft framework.
So what's the easiest way to send your comment? MFI has created a great online form where you can send your thoughts in just minutes. It's so easy!
To use this form, click HERE.
If you prefer snail mail, you can send a letter to:
Kristen McKinnon
Assistant Director, Office of Student and Family Support
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
75 Pleasant St.
Malden, MA 02148
If you would rather email them directly from your own email program, the address is: chpef@mass.gov.
And finally, DESE has an online survey that you can fill out to leave your comments. We plan to talk more about this survey next week. Unless you've got lots of free time and you enjoy sharing personal information with DESE, you might not want to use the survey. But in case you do, HERE’S THAT LINK, too.
What matters most is not HOW you submit your comment, it's that you DO submit your comment! These 60 days are your opportunity to let your voice be heard about these outrageous and inappropriate standards in the new draft Framework. Once you've submitted your comments to DESE, let us know on this post!
…
Oh, and if you're not familiar yet with the draft Framework, or MIP's objections to the Framework standards, keep reading!
