This Week's MIP Digest
Teaching Kindergarteners that Girls can Become Boys, Detransitioner Chloe Cole coming to MA, The Dish on "Dishing Out Drag," and More
It’s time for another edition of the MIP Digest!
The MIP Digest is a regular feature where we share the great information that has been posted to the MIP Facebook group during the previous week. The MIP Digest won’t capture all of the interesting comments and conversations that happen in the Facebook group, but it will include the highlights and provide a quick overview of the content, in case you missed it.
First, here are the posts from our Admins:

Parent Alert: This Wildly Unscientific Book was Read to Kindergartners in a MA Public School
We have learned that "It Feels Good to be Yourself: A Book About Gender Identity," was read in a MA public school kindergarten classroom. This highly controversial book was read without parental consent.
Check out these quotes from the book:
"See, when you were born, you couldn't tell people who you were or how you felt. They looked at you and made a guess. Maybe they got it right, maybe they got it wrong. What a baby's body looks like when they're born can be a clue to what the baby's gender will be, but not always."
"You might feel like a boy. You might feel like a girl. You might feel like both boy and girl - or like neither. You might feel like your gender changes from day to day or from year to year."
This sounds unbelievable, but don't take my word for it. Watch the read-aloud video for the full text:
This book is incredibly confusing for children of any age, and is especially inappropriate for sensitive, impressionable K's! This insane overreach is exactly why, unfortunately, MA parents (and parents everywhere in 2023) must be proactive about asking their teachers whether they plan to read any books about gender identity or diverse sexualities. It is not safe to assume they will tell you on their own.
With the school year almost over, a simple email to your teacher is your best defense. Ask about the books that will be read, and request that they inform you in advance so that you can either seek an alternative accommodation for your child or you can remove your child from class. If you don't receive a response from your child's teacher within 24 hours, follow up with your school principal and ask the same questions.
When the new school year starts, submit an opt out form for Sex Ed. You can also submit a letter requesting that your child be opted out of LGBTQ content. The law does not require that your child's school honor a LGBTQ opt-out letter, but some schools will respect your request. At the very least, it will open up a dialogue between you and your child's teacher, and it will make your teacher aware that you do not want your child exposed to this sort of confusing, damaging material. Sample opt out letters are available HERE.
Check out this upcoming event with Chloe Cole!
Chloe is a former transgender-identified young woman who has now detransitioned and is courageously speaking out on behalf of other young people trapped in the gender identity craze.
If you haven't heard Chloe's heartbreaking and important story, here is her interview on Jordan Peterson's podcast:

Because "Dishing Out Drag" Wasn't Enough...
A friend of MIP attended the "Dishing Out Drag" event on Saturday, June 10th. This is the email they received in their inbox on Tuesday morning, as a thank you for attending the event.
Apparently it wasn't enough that the teens attend the drag queen event, where the drag queen invited attendees to contact them via social media after the session was over if they had more questions, or mentioned that they had "drag children." Now the library is offering kids grades 6-12 an opportunity to sign up for a free "Teen Book Box", complete with a Pride-themed book to borrow, and another to keep.
One has to wonder, what books might be in this box?
Gender Queer, with its graphic-novel-style imagery of oral sex?
This Book is Gay, with its instructions on how to give "blowies" and how to access a hook-up sex app?
Let's Talk About It, with its dozens of depictions of nudity, instructions on how to use butt plugs, and more?
Yes, we wonder what books might be put in the hands of youngsters, without parental consent, by the library. Unfortunately, adults can't sign up to find out... this is only for the kids.
We weren't able to find this "Teen Book Box" offering anywhere on the Wilmington Memorial Library website, OR their social media. We think it's important for parents to know that if their child attended this event, they are now receiving this invitation.
Here’s a positive, factual book for kids!
